This blog post is not needlepoint related but, since our first drop was wedding-themed and anniversary season is upon us, it seemed appropriate for us each to share some photos from our own weddings! We are both married to our college sweethearts and both June brides, as evidenced by our custom wedding date canvases.
Bridget & Stephen
Bridget: I got married in 2017 at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, a beautiful hotel right on the corner of campus. My husband and I met at UNC (Go Heels!) and immediately knew that's where we would get married when he popped the question. The ceremony took place in the courtyard, and then we had our reception inside in the ballroom with checkered floors that make me swoon to this day!
From my husband hiding behind a door to announce our entrance like the announcer at a Heat game, to the band kicking off with September by Earth, Wind, & Fire (unbeknownst to them my favorite song to dance to at a wedding), to belting the alma mater at the end of the night, it could not have been more perfect. There is nothing better than getting to celebrate with all of your people in your favorite place. 🤍
Isabella & Andrew
Isabella: I got married last year (#2023bride) at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. My husband Andrew and I met in college at Cal and had been dating for 10 years before we got married! I documented a LOT of the wedding on my tiktok over the last year, we got a mini-vows feature in the New York Times, and honestly am still catching up on posting a lot of the content almost a year later. I actually didn’t pick needlepointing back up until after our wedding, since my brain had so much empty space where wedding planning used to be. Yes, I was one of those brides that turned her wedding into her whole personality, and now that it's over, I've replaced it with needlepoint!
In all seriousness, our wedding was everything I had hoped for, minus the SF weather not cooperating with the outdoor June wedding. One of my favorite parts of the wedding, besides seeing all of our favorite people at one time, was seeing what everyone wore! We set the theme as "Met Gala attire" as we wanted our guests to feel comfortable wearing whatever they felt like wearing to our wedding. We insisted that if it was something you may have always felt like was too much for a wedding, that's perfect for ours. We (I) love to be over the top, so I wanted to make sure our guests were trying to match that energy too.
Bridget also got to celebrate my wedding with me!
