Part of the reason we started Postcard Row was to try to revitalize needlepoint in the Bay Area and get more/younger stitchers involved in the craft. California, and San Francisco specifically, are often left out of needlepoint designs that are focused on other parts of the country -- namely the northeast and south. As San Francisco girlies, it was important to us to design canvases that represent where we live, and for the people that live around us or visit us. We are excited to introduce our new collection of San Francisco inspired needlepoint canvases that will be a permanent part of our line and that we plan to constantly expand as we work to get SF into needlepoint and on the map of the needlepoint community!
Fleet Week
If you are reading this from SF, you know that this launch weekend is Fleet Week! Those familiar with the TV series Sex and the City also may be aware of Fleet Week, but in SF it's characterized not by Navy men walking around everywhere but the Blue Angels performing for everyone in the city via the skies. It's one of Bridget's favorite SF activities!
Golden Gate Bridge Key Fob/Bookmark
One of the icons of our city is of course the Golden Gate Bridge. We started our line with our collection of choose your own adventure bookmarks, and wanted to design something along those lines that could be used as an extra long bookmark or finished as a key fob! A perfect 18 mesh canvas for a San Francisco resident or someone who loves to visit our city.
SF Bridge Ornament
We wanted to design a simple ornament for those who are looking for a needlepoint canvas to commemorate their time in San Francisco, no matter how long or short. While there are so many iconic SF landmarks, we know the most recognizable (and probably most visited) is the Golden Gate Bridge.
Muni
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, or Muni, is our version of a subway system. It's a "version" because it's mostly above ground and only underground in certain parts of the city and also only services certain parts of the city. Those visiting the city may be more familiar with BART, which runs through SF but connects multiple Bay Area cities, which you can use the next canvas for!
Clipper Card
SF transit (both Muni and Bart) is typically paid for with this iconic blue clipper card. We finally have a uniform commuter card that can attempt to reach the level of ubiquity as NYC's metrocard! If you've never seen this card before, we encourage you to visit SF and take public transportation!
Stay tuned for more SF needlepoint canvases that will be added to this permanent collection soon! We love our city and hope you will visit us here. Let us know if you want an SF City guide!
